Modern Jazz
Modern Jazz is fun. You will learn to develop many different movements reaching to a broad choice of varying rhythms and musical styles. Classes are structured to begin to prepare the physical strength and flexibility required
to demonstrate emotion through interpretation of any musical genre. Modern Jazz dancing builds up muscle, especially in the lower half of the body, to develop a strong dancer. It also develops poise, balance and grace with its quick, sharp and light movements. One minute you may be dancing to the rhythm of a drum, the next to a funky jazz style. You may explore contrast between expansion and relaxation or learn to isolate in a slick stylish mood. Whatever the atmosphere of the class, it is a wonderful opportunity to react and interact with other members and really dance to express your feelings; it is a social and communicative style of dance, building your child’s social and team skills. The Modern Jazz syllabus has a slight contemporary feel to it and as such requires students to be a little more mature to follow it. Here at the Academy we start all of our young pupils with Theatre Craft and once they have passed their Primary exam we then move them onto the Modern Jazz syllabus Live performances may also increase your child’s self-esteem, sense of achievement and confidence in public.
